USS IOWA 12'' X 15'' WOOD PLAQUE

With 1:100 Scale replica of 16" Guns, made from the actual metal of the replacement guns from four Iowa Class Battleships.

Numbered with Certtficate of Authenticity, each Plaque includes the official Navy Seal, an 8" x 6" inch laminated color photograph of the Ship, with Battle Ribbons and Citations superimposed on the photograph, a 1:100 scale replica of the Naval Ordnance cast from the original replacement guns and a Plate with Ship Name, Launch Date and the Wars the Battleship served in.

A little USS Iowa History...
Commissioned in February 1943, USS Iowa was built at the New York Navy Yard, Brooklyn, NY. She carried President Franklin D. Roosevelt accross the Atlantic in late 1943 and she was actively involved in raids against Japanese facilities and capture campaigns until an overhaul in early 1945.

Iowa returned to the western Pacific for the Okinawa campaign and the final operations against Japan, where she was present in Tokyo Bay during the formal surrender of Japan on 2 September 1945. Upon returning to the United States, USS Iowa operated with the Pacific Fleet until she was decommissioned in March 1949.\

BB-61 was recommissioned in August 1951 for the Korean War, during which time she served as Seventh Fleet flagship and then decommissioned again in February 1958. Modernized in the 1980s and recommisioned in April 1984, she operated in European Waters, the Mediterranean Sea, the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea before she was decommissioned for the last time in October 1990.
