A little USS Wisconsin History...
USS Wisconsin (BB-64) was built at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and launched in December 1943 on the second anniversary of the Pearl Harbor raid.
During her career, Wisconsin served in the Pacific Theater of World War II, where as part of the occupying force, she arrived at Tokyo Bay on 5 September, three days after the formal surrender of Japan. She also participated in the Korean War until decommissioned in March 1958.
Recommissioned in October 1988 USS Wisconsin participated in the Gulf War before she was last decommissioned in September 1991, having earned a total of six battle stars for service in World War II and Korea, and also a Navy Unit Commendation for this service during the Gulf War.
